Lex Femme chooses Malmstolen for their new office – in collaboration with Krut Spatial Design

When Lex Femme moved into new premises in central Gothenburg, they wanted to create a safe, professional and welcoming environment – both for the women and girls seeking support, and for the three employees and roughly seventy volunteers who run the organisation's daily operations. Together with Krut Designstudio and Malmstolen, an office took shape that reflects both their mission and identity.

Lex Femme is a non-profit women’s and girls’ support organisation working towards a society free from men’s violence against women. Through a nationwide phone and legal support line, counselling sessions, and an extensive lecture programme, they offer advice and support in nearly 45 languages.

The collaboration with Krut Designstudio began with a workshop at Anna’s studio, where Lex Femme received tools to articulate their needs.

“We quickly realised that our new office needed to be more than just a workplace. It had to feel safe, caring and professional at the same time,” says Erica, lawyer at Lex Femme.

When it was time to design the new space, Anna at Krut took over and developed their ideas into a visual concept based on warmth, calmness and a clear identity.

“The most important thing was to create an environment that feels welcoming – without becoming too formal or rigid. At the same time, it shouldn’t feel like stepping into someone’s home. It needed to land in a safe, professional and warm balance,” says Anna from Krut Designstudio.

”We spend many hours sitting each day, so a good chair was important to us. When we tested Malmstolen, we immediately noticed the difference. I used to have frequent back pain – but it has improved significantly since we switched chairs,” Erica explains.

The colour and material palette is rooted in Lex Femme’s familiar pink tones, but expressed in more muted, tone-on-tone variations. Warm textiles, calming hues and small, thoughtful details create an environment where both staff and visitors can relax and feel at ease.

“We wanted to avoid anything that felt impersonal – but still keep a solid, professional foundation,” says Erica.

Ergonomics became a crucial part of the project – both for the team’s everyday work and for the volunteers who visit. Here, Malmstolen Active R3 & Classic 4000 proved to be the natural choice.

“We spend many hours sitting each day, so a good chair was important to us. When we tested Malmstolen, we immediately noticed the difference. I used to have frequent back pain – but it has improved significantly since we switched chairs,” Erica explains.

The move to the new premises has made a noticeable difference: “Now we actually want to come into the office. You feel the calm the moment you step through the door,” one of the team members describes.

The result is an office where Lex Femme’s vital work is given space – and where both staff and visitors are welcomed into an environment that communicates safety, professionalism and genuine care.

Thank you to Krut Designstudio and Lex Femme for a wonderful collaboration.
