Malmstolen's design of the work chair with its patented backrest and Dux seat provides excellent relief, significantly better than most other manufacturers. Good relief and pressure distribution over the largest possible surface is a precondition for relaxation and good blood circulation in your muscles.
What do we measure? One way of studying the pressure relieving qualities of the seat and backrest is to lay a pressure measurement mat over the work chair. The objective of the Malmstolen chair is to distribute the pressure over the largest possible surface area thereby producing reduced pressure per surface unit. Moreover, it is vital that your upper body, which is exposed to the greatest stress when sitting, is given adequate support to ensure its natural curvature is retained with the lowest possible static load over the entire sitting area both front and back.
What is the measurement procedure?
We have shown some examples below of comparisons made between a range of chair designs and how well these designs distribute the weight. The common theme with these chairs is a high backrest up to around shoulder level. Each work chair has been adapted to suit the person sitting in the chair and how they perceive its very best and most comfortable position. In these examples the chairs have a backward incline of 100° where they are clearly affected by the weight of the body. The sitting height has been set to ensure heels can reach the floor without any problems. (Please turn to the Sitting positions section for more information)
