A good ergonomic office chair does not solve everything. In order for the ergonomic features to be utilised to the full, you have to use the chair in the right way. You can sit poorly in any kind of chair. A common mistake is sitting way too far out on the chair seat and too low in relation to the desk. Or sitting too high and therefore on the front edge of the seat to keep your feet in contact with the floor. The back gets no support and eventually sinks down. Tension starts to build up when your muscles don't have the chance to relax, we get tired and maybe also start to feel a few aches.

Right basic settings – Film 1
The film shows how you adjust your chair to ensure a good basic sitting position. Let the chair lean slightly backwards, as the body will rest better against the chair. Start by moving as far back as possible on the seat. Only then will the hip section and the lower part of your back receive adequate support. Raise the chair to a good working level. You must be able to sit completely flush with the backrest with your backside and still reach the floor with your feet without experiencing pressure that is too great on the bottom of the thighs. Move closer to your desk ensuring your forearms are well supported. Release the knee-tilt mechanism to allow the chair to follow you in the small movements which occur the whole time during your work.
Change working position
Regardless of how good your chair is, you will want to change your working position many times over the course of the day. You can do this without changing any settings. All you need to do to achieve a good working position is that you move your chair closer or further away from your desk. The films show you how. |

Switch to a more forward leaning working position – Film 2

Switch to a more backward leaning position – Film 3
If you lean backwards to switch working position, your arms will be stretched out and your forearms will be lifted up from the support they have on your desk. You counteract this by moving the chair closer to the desk until your arms once again are supported comfortably. |

Your body needs to move – Film 4
The movements we make when working are natural. Use telephone conversations and other short breaks to move back and forth on your chair. This is both relaxing and has a positive effect on your blood circulation. A good ergonomic work chair follows your body like a shadow. The Malmstolen gives you great freedom of movement all day long. |
