Support, relief, relaxation and movement. These are the four criteria an office chair must meet in the best way in order to be a highly effective work tool. All the work chairs that Malmstolen AB develops are based on providing these particular functions to the person sitting in the chair. This is to guarantee that the person feels as good when they get out of their chair in the afternoon as they did when they got out of bed in the morning.

Good ergonomic office chairs
A good work chair must provide the option of natural and relaxing movements and not prevent them when we conduct our work duties. The chair must also help to relieve the body from the loads caused by gravity to help us to relax more easily. Having a relaxed muscular system means the body finds it easier to circulate blood than if it was tense. This contributes to the better replacement of nutrients and oxygen in the body. This process is further enhanced when combined with natural activity-related movements. Load-related movements (where the movement is a symptom of a load that generates fatigue, pain etc) work in the opposite direction.

Relief and Support
In order to achieve satisfactory relief, the contact surfaces of the chair in relation to the body, i.e. backrest and seat, must be able to distribute your body weight over the largest possible surface. In addition, the part of the body exposed to the load Ð the upper body Ð must be able to maintain the same natural shape as when standing with the least possible static effort. When standing, the body has assumed its basic position in relation to gravity, and all muscles and joints are then in their neutral positions. In order to achieve satisfactory relief when sitting, all of the contact surfaces of the chair must be able to be adapted to suit the shape of the body, and not the other way round, along with a combination of the chair's other adaptation/setting options.
