Give me 15 minutes...

A standard Malmstol chair suits most people rather well. But take a little while to adjust your chair to suit your body and your work tasks and you will enjoy even more benefits from your new chair. Fifteen minutes is enough. You can then sit for long periods.

  • Seat height

    On the right side of the chair, a "bar" protrudes with a handle at the far end. Grip the bar just inside the handle, and rotate the bar backwards to adjust the height of the chair. When you have reached the desired position, simply release the bar.

    When the chair is tilted slightly backwards, you should comfortably reach down with your heels against the floor. Is the seat too high and the legs begin to dangle, you get to high pressure under the thighs. Is the chair too low, the strain on the back will increase.


  • Seat depth

    Adjust the seat depth using the control under the seat on the rear left side. Release the control to lock the seat in the preferred position.

    You should be able to sit perfectly against the backrest without feeling the rear edge of the seat. There should also be a space between the back of the knee and the front edge of the seat so that you can move your legs.


  • Backrest setting – height

    Adjust the height of the backrest using the lever on the underside of the backrest on the right side.

    Release the back rest with the lever on the bottom of the backrest on the right side. Raise or lower the seat back until you feel the curvature of the backrest follows your back S-curvature. It should be like parallel lines. This will give you support all the way down from the lower back, through the lordosis and you also support the shoulder blades underneath. Lock by sliding the lever back.


  • Backrest setting - incline

    The angle between seat and back.

    Lift the rear lever on the right side. Regulate the back inclination with body weight. On this model, you control with this function how far forward / backwards you want the tilt to follow you.

    NOTE!!  If you fold the backrest forward will the tilt to be perceived as harder. If you fold it backwards, will the tilt perceived as softer. This is compensated by adjusting the tilt torsion.

    Release the lever when the seat back is in the desired position.


  • Torsion of the syncroglide tilt

    Set the torsion of the syncroglide tilt mechanism by turning the crank on the right side. The seat must follow your movements gently and not hit the bottom immediately when you lean backwards.

    Fold out the crank handle. Cranks it forward will make the tilt torsion harder, backwards, it becomes looser. When finished, fold the crank again.


  • Lock the syncroglide tilt

    To open the tilt function, turn the lever/shaft on the left side backwards and push the body against the backrest. This function is of safety reasons .When the tilt is in motion, release the lever/rod.

    To lock the tilt again, turn the lever/rod forward. The tilt locks in a number of fixed positions.


  • Neckrest setting

    The head rest has two joints to enable it to receive your head and give good support.


  • Armrest – height

    Your forearms must rest in a relaxed position against the arm rests without pushing up your shoulders. There are two ways to set the armrest vertically.

    1. Press the button backwards and move the arm rest to the required height.

    2. Adjust the arm rest vertically by turning the button.


  • Armrest – width

    Turn the knob under the armrest in order to adjust the armrest sideways. Lock in the preferred position by turning the knob again.
